Iraq has a political position in the world and the Middle East; it is formed as a result of the First World War via Britain on (23, August 1921), then a Hejazi Arab personality (Faisal bin Hussein) became the king of Iraq. In (1925) Kurdistan has been attached to Iraq. Later in (1932) Iraq has recognized via the League of Nations.

The word (Iraq) has taken from a Sumerian word (Urok), which means fertile lowland, it belongs to the south lands of Mesopotamia, and those lands locate between Dijlah and Tigris rivers. It has depicted the south of Kurdistan territories (Kurdistan Region) and Mousel additionally, didn’t identify as a part of Iraqi land. While today is accounted as an inseparable part of Iraq!

The Iraq state has formed after two months of Sheikh Mahmoud’s revolution defeat in the south of Kurdistan. At that time the British government seized that opportunity to form a country from the states of Baghdad and Basra due to protect its interests in the area. At the very beginning it was illustrated as a government in (1920), in (1921) the King was appointed and the country has named (Iraq).

Four political systems have been managing in Iraq for over a century. Kurds have been being the victim among of all of them so far, for instance, during (37) years of monarchy power which reached three kings and an inheritor to the power as Faisal bn Hussein and his brother Ghazi, prince Abdullah and Faisal bn Ghazi), many attempts have carried out via the Kurds for getting independence but the mentioned above aborted it.

The second one was the republic system which was established via (Abd al-Karim) Qasim from (14, July 1958). The Kurd rights and position were stabilized in the Iraqi constitution, article three, but it was unproductive because it didn’t go to practice. As a result, the Kurd’s (September or Eilul) revolution has launched in the south of Kurdistan against Iraq.

The reason was even Qasim didn’t get experienced from his previous power to think about the future of the state, he paid the price of his wrong policy, finally, the Baathes fired him from power.

The third political authority system was the Baathists, they got power in (1968) and they ousted in (2003). During (35) years of authority that regime did what it can against Kurds like using a chemical weapon, genocide, etc. However, in their early of power, they recognized the Kurd's right to strengthen their power as it was confirmed in the agreement of (March 1975); conversely, the Algeria agreement in the same year has ruined everything.

The fourth political system belongs to the Shia authorities whom they neglected after (1982) in Iraq. After (2003) when the coalition forces under the leadership of the United States of America ended the power of the Baathists. Throughout (17) years of authority, the Iraqi Shias did nothing less than the previous regimes against Kurds while Kurds were stronger than the former eras and have a high political position in Iraq.

A century of conflict with the consecutive authorities in Iraq, neither Iraqi leaders believed in Kurd’s rights nor Kurds could exit in Iraq, thus a history of conflict and bloodshed have passed over a hundred years!

So, ten decades of Kurds history in Iraq has struggled for the sake of remaining not for separation, nothing would product from that political direction in the past hundred years.
